Development Education opportunities for teachers

UNESCRP-Global-Citizen-Education

We're delighted to have received funding from WorldWise Global Schools to develop new teaching resources over the next academic year.

These will focus on bringing a development education approach and active learning methodologies to Business Studies (Junior Cert.), Maths (Junior Cert.) and Geography (Leaving Cert.).

To ensure that these resources meet teachers' needs, we're keen to have teachers involved in their development.

We are looking for teachers who have an interest in development education and who would like to get involved in working with us and other teachers to support the development of these resources.

  • Business Studies: Join the resource development working group
The commitment involves attending 3 workshops designed to support teachers in bringing development education and active learning methodologies into their classrooms, identify the challenges and gaps for Business Studies and support the development of a resource to overcome these challenges and gaps.

We will develop materials based on the themes, ideas and challenges teachers identify in workshop 1. The following 2 workshops will be a space for teachers to give feedback on the activities developed and shape the content of the resource. At the end of the workshop series you will have a resource ready to pilot in your classroom.

Substitution costs are available to cover participation in the workshops.

  • Geography and Maths: Trial the resources
We're looking for a group of teachers to trial our new resources for Leaving Cert. Geography and Junior Cert. Maths in their classrooms.

The commitment is to attend 1 workshop as an introduction to the resources and to provide feedback after trialling the resource materials in your classroom.  This feedback will be used to shape the final resource.

Substitution costs are available to cover participation in the workshop.

If you are interested in finding out more information or getting involved with any of these projects, please get in touch with Deirdre (deirdre@debtireland.org / 01 617 4835).
