In a rapidly changing world, the environment we live in is probably changing most of all. Nevertheless, our financial system has been sluggish to respond to this unprecedented crisis, with devastating results for our planet.

In a series of talks taking place around Ireland, DDCI will explore just how the world of finance is making such a huge impact on our environment. The first of these talks, on the theme of Linking the Financial to the Environmental, will take place in Limerick, on the 16th of March, at 18:30. Featuring Peadar Kirby, Emeritus Professor of International Politics and Public Policy, and director of the Institute for the Study of Knowledge in Society, the discussion will take place in:

The first of our Dublin talks will take place on Monday, the 20th of March, at 18:30, in:

  • Maeve Bateman, Director of Debt and Development Coalition Ireland
  • Peadar Kirby, Emeritus Professor of International Politics and Public Policy, and director of the Institute for the Study of Knowledge in Society
  • Joseph Curtin, Senior Research Fellow for climate change policy in the Institute of International and European Affairs
  • John Barry, Professor of Green Political Economy at Queens University Belfast
  • Diarmuid Torney, Lecturer of International Relations at DCU, with a focus on the comparative and global politics of climate change and energy
