Exploring the Economic Root Causes of Poverty, Inequality and Injustice in Development Education [Non-Formal Education - Community, Youth, Trade Union etc.]

 

Financial Justice Ireland and the Centre for Global Education have commissioned research into the attention given by DE/GCE practitioners to the dominant global economic system (neoliberalism) as the root cause of poverty, inequality, and injustice as part of their practice in development education and/or international development. The research aims to find out about the challenges and opportunities that exist to do this and about the methodologies that can support a systemic approach to addressing root causes.

To support this research, development educators and international development practitioners are invited to two seminar-workshops to explore the issues of the research. The workshops will provide a summary overview of the research to date, followed by collaborative work to further explore challenges, opportunities, and education methodologies that can be used to place ‘single’ issues in a ‘root cause’, global economic systems context.

This second workshop, on Thursday 6th March, from 10:00 to 11:30, is aimed at DE/GCE practitioners working in or with the Non-Formal Education Sector (community, youth, trade union, etc).
